The Direction of Prevention and Treatment of Cancer in the Infancy and the Adolescence is the instance of the Secretary of Health, responsible for directing the actions for the prevention and the treatment of cancer in the less than 18 years to national level.
This Direction is also responsible for the organization and operation of the National Counsel for the Prevention and the Treatment of Cancer in the Infancy and the Adolescence, created by presidential decree in January of 2005, like alternative for the growing problem of public health that represents the childhood cancer in Mexico.
MISSION
To propose politics and to establish the strategies, features, and procedures in matter of prevention, diagnostic and treatment of cancer in the less than 18 years; to diminish the mortality by this cause, and to improve the quality of life of the patients, of its family and the society; through the coordination and coordination of actions of the social, private, and public sectors, in the financial, normative, and technical environments; optimizing resources, assuring an integral attention and of quality, promoting the investigation, and prompting the continuous education to the personnel of health and to the population in general, for the opportune detection of the cancer.
VISION
Being capable of consolidating to National level, all and each one of the necessary actions to guarantee an early diagnosis, as well as a free, integral, opportune treatment and of quality; to all the less than 18 years with cancer; for improve its quality of life, of its family and the society; and at the same time to diminish the mortality by this cause in the children and adolescents of Mexico.
